How can I trace my ancestry with only my Maternal grandfathers and grandmothers full names? Grandpa was in the Navy (i believe dishonorably discharged) and my grandmother spoke of her Mother located in Lompoc, California and I only have her nickname. Both
Thank you for your response.:) My grandfathers name was Paul Louis Cervantes his Mom was last known to be in Stockton, CA & I vaguely remember her name to us was “Grandma Diccico”. My grandmothers name was Ernestine Salas, her Mom was nicknamed: “Tachita” of Lompoc, CA. My grandmother spoke of her family being from Texas. Our family has been dissolved about 4 generations ago: unsure why.
I found the following birth announcement in the June 5, 1947 issue of "The Californian" newspaper (Salinas, California)
"CYNTHIA'S THE NAME...of the second daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Louis Cervantes who was born May 31 at the Central hospital. Cynthia Constance weighed seven pounds at birth and her sister is Linda Ann, 2 1/2 years old. Grandparents are Mrs. Ana Mlora of Riker street and Mrs. Florence Marquez of Central avenue."
Is this the correct family? If so I'll try to find more re: the named grandmothers.
I'm collecting evidence and believe that Ernestine's mother was Anastasia "Ana/Anna" Beltran Mora whose husband was Thomas Mora. Anastasia was from Texas.
I'm not sure when and where Anastasia/Anastacia married Thomas Mora. It's also unclear why Ernestina's maiden name is Salas/Solis in various records since it was Mora (also Moore) in the 1930 and 1940 US Census.
