Obituary www2.statsbiblioteket.dk/.../1913-09-01,1913-09-30 Assens - Tommerup Assens the boy who became US governor. The other day, a man died in Frederiksberg, whose life has taken an extremely peculiar shape. His name is Frederik Johnsen, and he was born in Assens as the son of men's equipment dealer L. Jensen. At a young age of 17-18, Frederik Johnsen went to North America, where he suffered a lot in New York. But then he got work as a regimental clerk, and during the Spanish-American war, in which he participated, he rose to the rank of Major, and later became Governor of a district in the Philippines. As such, ha did a most meritorious job. A few years ago he returned home to Denmark for a visit. He was then attacked by cancer and could no longer look after his position. Johnsen therefore remained in his fatherland until death has now taken him away, aged 41.

  • The records are also available on ancestry and in parts on familysearch.

He married Jenny Hansine Aagaard Smidt on September 5, 1913 shortly before his passing. If you think there could be children and more you could go through the parish register page by page and hope to find her name. In accordance to several family trees on familysearch and ancestry he had several siblings but no children.
