Census Enumeration Districts

Before the 1880 U.S. Census, no street address or specific location was recorded to those enumerated.  Enumeration districts as such didn't really exist... no ED maps for example, no census enumerators just Assistant Marshalls, etc..  Instead the basic unit was some political unit.  If there was a household with children, perhaps their names and ages between 1860 and 1870 might confirm it's the same family.  But in your case it looks like you can't find them in 1860.

Two cities which had a second 1870 enumeration included addresses in the 2nd one.  Those were New York City and Philadelphia.  The National Archives has a film series that describes the census districts including 1870, but don't be surprised if there isn't much detail on the roll.  www.archives.gov/.../t1224.pdf
