Canadian born

I'm seeking baptismal or copy of birth certificates for family born in Canada, specifically Halifax on Nova Scotia.  I've tried third parties and nothing.  I can give specifics if it will help, such as my great grandfather Theophilus Beeler (wife Ella May Moffatt) and his parents Agnes Hammond and Ozias (Ozies) Bealor (Beeler)   Please advise for genealogy assistance for Canada, thanks!

This is our third time trying to get Indigenous Services Canada to simply recognize us as First Nations.  We're not looking for benefits just a recognition not registration. Thanks for anyone to assist this history search.  :)

  • Hello -- I believe I found some info regarding your great grandfather Theophilus Leroy Beeler (DOB 14 Aug 1892 in New Germany, Lunenburg Co., Nova Scotia, Canada) and his wife Ella May Moffatt (married 25 Apr 1917; 6 months later T.L. left to serve with the CEF as an MP in WW1). I'd love to help, if I can, because genealogical research is something I enjoy as a hobby -- it's a great big puzzle just BEGGING to be solved!!!

  • Exciting!  Thank you!  I'm busy this morning and will reply in detail soon.  The key to this puzzle is Agnes is Mi'kmaq (MicMac) and I'm applying for recognition (not registration) as First Nations - showing our Indigenous bloodline.   More info:

Ozias and Agnes Bealor in Lunenberg (District 11, Sub-district E, Division 1, Page 9, Lines 10-11, https://www.bac-lac.gc.ca/eng/census/1881/Pages/item.aspx?itemid=672388). On the digital record, under column 13, Origin, Agnes Bealor is recorded as “Indian”.

I have more information for the Mi'kmaq (Mi'kmaw) bloodline from my grandmother before she passed on.  Will reply more later!  Thanks!
