Does anyone know of a source for the most common surnames in the U.S. between 1880 and 1930 or at one point in that timeframe? I have read everything on this topic I can find on the web and have only found data from recent censuses. The particular surname I'm interested in is Cook. It would be helpful to provide this data in a genealogical research report for someone else when addressing the need for evidence to distinguish between the research subject and others with the same name. The person's first name was in the top 10 in the U.S. at the time. Thanks!
