Divisions within counties (Illinois) 1840 census

The 1840 census of Gallatin county Illinois shows numerous subdivisions. I’m trying to identify the geographic range of Curran. Where could I find information (or a map) that shows where they are located?

Have you tried a reference librarian in the County? Or a historical society? I found a GenWeb for the county, and there is a list of Land Records https://gallatin.illinoisgenweb.org/GalLand.html Perhaps you can correlate the landowner, year, and legal description to the names of 1840 Census (head of family) shown as Curran?
