We are looking for information about our paternal great grandfather: Amador Acebo.
We know he was in the Canal Zone in 1908, as there is a Supreme Court of the Canal Zone case involving him and his wife, Caridad Galán Acebo against Jose Garavel over a property in Tabernilla. (https://books.google.com/books?id=E3-d4JByWH8C&lpg=PA87&dq=amador%20acebo&pg=PA87#v=onepage&q=amador%20acebo&f=false). I found this by googling his name. The records show that he purchased the property in 1982.
There is a ship manifest showing that Caridad Galan de Acebo entered the US on October 30th, 1928, at the age of 52, and that she was a a widow when she arrived. Her death certificate shows she was born on September 8, 1870 in Cuba. This would mean she was actually 58, not 52, when she came to the US. My father believes she was born in Santiago.
Their son, my grandfather, was Elsardo Acebo Galán. My father has located several ship manifests showing him entering the US between 1919 and 1921. He appears in the 1920 Federal Census as residing at Corozal, US Military Forces, Panama Canal Zone. It shows his father's birthplace as Spain and his mother's as Cuba.
There were also two sisters: Angelina Acebo Galan who was born in 1887 and Mary Acebo Galan, born in 1891.
My father was told by his father that Amador was a trader in Panama, and that when he died there. We are hoping to find an records about him such as confirmation of his occupation, the date and place of his death and, if possible, how he died.
Thank you for any assistance you can provide!
