Hi,
I am researching on incarceration in historical periods and found that there were a few censuses of prisoners conducted in this period (1910, 1923, etc). I wonder whether the underlying records of these censuses still exist.
Thank you!

If the prison was of sufficient size, it was given it's own enumeration district on U.S. censuses. But it is doubtful the enumerator interacted with each inmate but instead just got a list of inmates with a minimum of vital information. Also there was no 1923 U.S. Population Schedule/Census.
Hi Joel, thanks for the response. I am aware of the enumeration in decennial census. I was referring to this separate census of prisoners in 1910 and 1923: https://babel.hathitrust.org/cgi/pt?id=hvd.hl4ti1
Thank you for posting your question on History Hub!
We have conducted a search for the records you seek in Record Group 29, Records of the Bureau of the Census. However, we have been unable to locate any responsive records. Other information—if it exists—may be dispersed elsewhere among the records but identifying all potential records will require more detailed research than we are staffed to provide.
We regret that we cannot assist you further and wish you luck in your research!
Sincerely,
