The U.S. census has been taken every 10 years since 1890. There is no 1974 U.S. Census. Massachusetts stopped taking state censuses after 1945. There is a 72 year privacy period so the 1960 census, for instance, won't become public until 2032. The Census Bureau will allow under specific conditions the release of some information on 1960 or 1970 or 1980 censuses.
