If you are simply wondering if the address is legitimate, we suggest you check the Population Schedules for the 1910 Census in the Records of the Bureau of the Census (Record Group 29) for a listing under your particular state and county. These schedules are not digitized in the Catalog. Most cities and counties have yearly directories for residents.  Some of these directories are indexed by address but most are alphabetically by last name.  We suggest you consult the FamilySearch wiki on United States Directories for these resources..

Hi there, thanks for all the great help. I'm still having technology problems with my laptop. Here is the name and address to find out if it is an legitimate one: John Braun, 732 South Cherry Street, Canton, OH. This person was given as the sponsor for my great auntie and this information is on the passenger list. Our family is not aware that another family member immigrated before, but you never know. My great auntie as said before immigrated in July 1912 to America. Any further help would be great until my laptop is working again. Thanks in advance. :-)

According to the 1913 City Directory for Canton, Ohio on Ancestry, a Mary Braun resided at 732 S. Cherry Street.  There is no John Braun listed, but he may have resided there at one time.

I believe the correct name of the uncle may be John Daum.  He was a bottler and saloon owner whose business and residence were at 732 S Cherry.

Sometime between the 1910 Census and the 1913 city directory, John moved from an address on Pine Street to 732 S Cherry (the city directories on Ancestry.com jump from 1910 to 1913). John is in various City Directories on Ancestry.com, in the inhabitant section as well as the business section.

In the 1920 U.S. Census, John Daum resides with a large family and boarders at 732 S Cherry.  The following link is to FamilySearch.org.  (To view, you will need to sign up for a free account.) https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:MD1Q-2BP

Here is a link to the 1909 Canton marriage record of John and his wife Mary.  It gives the names of their parents.

Hopefully this is enough to help you pin down if John Daum was a relation to your relative.  It is possible he had an employee names John Braun, but I didn't locate one in the city directories.

Your link to U.S. City Directories to find the residence of people are very good. I found very good information through this. I have one more question -I found Billings under Montana, but not Glendive in Montana. Is there a particular reason for it or is there no City Directory for Glendive? Or could it be possible that they have been combined with a bigger / closer city like Miles City or another one? Thanks for your help in advance.
