Dear Mr. Cacho,
Thank you for posting your request on History Hub!
We are unable to immediately identify the members of the press offices for each of the U.S. embassies of interest.
We searched the National Archives Catalog and located United States Diplomatic Records for Spain, 1801–1935 and General Records, 1937–1963 for the US Embassy in Mexico in the Records of the Foreign Service Posts of the Department of State (Record Group 84). These records may be useful, but we can not guarantee that they will include complete staff lists. For more information about these non-digitized records, please contact the National Archives at College Park - Textual Reference (RDT2) via email at Archives2reference@nara.gov.
You may experience a delay in receiving an initial acknowledgment as well as a substantive response to your reference request from RDT2. We apologize for this inconvenience and appreciate your understanding and patience as we balance mission-critical work and the safety of our staff during the pandemic. Please check NARA’s web page about COVID-19 updates for the latest information.
Please note the U.S. Ambassadors for each country below:
Spain (1920-1925): Joseph E. Willard (9/10/1913-7/7/1921); Cyrus E. Woods (6/24/1921); Alexander P. Moore (3/3/1923-12/20/1925; and Ogden H. Hammond (12/21/1925-10/13/1929).
Mexico (1945-1965): George S. Messersmith (2/24/1942-5/15/1946); Walter C. Thurston (6/17/1946-11/4/1950); William O’Dwyer (11/23/1950-12/6/1952); Francis White (4/28/1953-6/30/1957); Robert C. Hill (7/25/1957-12/1/1960); Thomas C. Mann (5/8/1961-12/22/19630; and Fulton Freeman (4/6/1964-1/6/1969).
The Department of State website provides a variety of information concerning foreign policy, State Department organizations and services, consular affairs, holocaust issues, and many other subjects.
We hope this is helpful. Best of luck with your research!
Thank you so much!!
