Mislabeled Date Section

Question

I am working on Anna E. Dickinson Family Correspondence. The section I am currently working on is 1882:Sept 6 - Dec 25. Based on the letters' content (midwest tour with managers Wentworth and Hunting), it appears that that pages 2-46 took place in 1883. (Anna makes hers "3s" very strangely so that may be why they are miscategorized).

Pages 47 thru 51 are from 1882, so they are in the correct section..

Lara, thanks so much for looking into this!&#160; I would be grateful if you would forward my comments to the Manuscript Division just to double-check. I sent a previous email about a page from June 6, 1950 in the Letters to Friend and Allies for Mary Church Terrell for June 1949. These 2 pages go with that document.

I also noticed that pages 6 to the left side of page 16 are related to the same case and should be included in 1950. Manuscript will have to look through the individual pages to find where they belong. They have various dates on them.

What I discovered was that other folders from other dates and years were tucked inside. Don't know if this was part of the issue from a few months ago or if this is a new issue. Hello Henry, Thank you for alerting us to this. The image of the two letters is taken from a frame of the microfilm edition of the Terrell papers, which was produced by the Library of Congress in 1977 shortly after the collection was processed. The 1937 letter also remains in the same location within the original manuscripts, Correspondence series, Box 11. It may be that the document has been misfiled since the Terrell papers were processed, or it may be that the author simply misdated the letter and that it was actually written in 1938. However, the issue has been reported to our technical and curatorial staff to consider. Best wishes, Lewis
