Some transcribers I’ve noticed are using double brackets instead of the single pair. For example, [[handwritten]] instead of [handwritten] or [[illegible]] instead of [illegible]. (LoC protocol calls for double brackets.) Does this use affect results that researchers might see in their results at NARA, or in any way affect the search capabilities of NARA’s interface? (I think that’s the right word.) Is it worth changing double brackets to single when I see them in a transcription or is it six-of-one...?
