Transcribing films and moving images

I thought I’d seen guidelines for transcribing film (and images) in NARA’s Getting Started guidelines but now I’m unable to locate them (the references to…).  Could you please point me in the right direction for transcribing images, moving and otherwise?  Thank you!

  • We do not have specific instructions for moving images.  Most volunteers do not transcribed moving images, but if they do, they listen to the audio and transcribe what you hear.

Transcribing photographs and graphic images is only possible when there is text as a caption or on the image itself.

We suggest tagging photographs or graphic images to identify people, object, locations, etc.  This makes them much more searchable.  Check out What Makes A Good Tag for more information.
